As the first born, I always thought running the family ranch was my destiny.

Apparently, so did everyone else too, because when Dad unexpectedly died in a car accident, everything fell to me.

Life was stressful for a while after, till my brother Gabe came back home to help.

What was the hardest part of losing Dad the way we did? Without question, it was becoming the stand in / de facto father to my youngest brother, Leo.

I didn't want the job, and he sure didn't seem to enjoy me having it. But considering the path he was headed down, I didn't see any other choice.

I thought I had given up any chance of ever finding a life of my own, until she walked into my life.
